Recruiting new Committee members
Blog post by Garrett Smith
Dear English 31 Members,
The annual general meeting is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about electing new members to the Committee. The current Committee has been stable for the past two years and we are preparing a smooth transition towards the future movers and shakers. As you can imagine, our students grow through our challenging educational program and eventually graduate out as aspiring young adults. As Committee member parents, once we no longer have a child in the program, we are obliged to pass torch to parents with children of a younger generation.
So, with that said, we are now looking for a few committed individuals to join the committee this year to help out with our current challenges and the regular management of our association. Ideally, we are looking for parents with students in Primary who can lead the association over the course of several years. On the skills side, we would greatly appreciate someone with financial/accountant experience who could step up into the role of Treasurer and oversee the association’s books. We could also use someone with a legal background to guide the Committee through the ins and outs of French law.
Committee meetings are actually a lot of fun (we’re all smiles in the above picture) and it’s a chance to give back to our community. There’s a great sense of camaraderie amongst the team as we have spirited debates about the best strategic direction to take. We continue to have challenges ahead which need sound management and diverse inputs.
If you’d like to make a contribution, please contact one of our current Committee members or Sylvia Lozano in the English 31 office and make yourself know.
We look forward to seeing everyone soon.
