English 31 Christmas Party
Blog post by Tracy Severne de Milt
On Saturday 5th December English 31 had the pleasure of welcoming nearly 70 adults and 90 children for the annual Christmas party, which was held in the festively decorated IST canteen and was our largest ever turn out. The afternoon kicked off with numerous activities including incredibly artistic face painting (frozen being a popular theme), creative paper crafts and Christmas colouring sheets.
The English 31 team were on hand to offer much needed refreshments of hot chocolate and juices as well as a plentiful supply of cakes and tarts kindly donated by parents.
Then it was time for the fun and games, in true Christmas spirit the children played pass the snowball, pin the carrot on the snowman and guess the weight of the Christmas chocolates.
In the quieter reading corner the children had the opportunity of enjoying storytime with “the night before Christmas”. A Christmas party wouldn’t be complete without a Christmas sing song and teachers Sam Backhouse and Katherine Southwell didn’t disappoint leading the children in traditional Christmas songs such as jingle bells, deck the halls and we wish you a merry Christmas.
Finally the children were delighted with a surprise visit from Santa, who had taken time out of his busy schedule to pop in and enjoy a chat and find out some of the children’s Christmas wishes. Apart from a huge smile the children left with a present of goodies including chocolates, Clementines and magic bath beans.
A good time having been had by all.
We would like to thank all our volunteers, teachers, parents, the IST, and of course Santa for making the afternoon such a wonderful event.
We would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas from the English 31 team.
